Automatic Recurring Contribution

Every financial institution has its own procedures, but here’s a general guide on how to set up bill pay:

Create an online account on your bank's website or app, if you don't already have one
Once you’ve logged in, look for a “Bill Pay” link
The “Payee” is Emmanuel Lutheran Church
Enter the amount you want to tithe
In the “Memo” or “Note” section, please include your envelope number
When asked whether you want it to be a one-time payment or recurring, select recurring

Online Contribution

Emmanuel now accepts online payments via Zelle®.

Zelle® is an easy way to send money directly between almost any U.S. bank accounts typically within minutes. With just an email address or U.S. mobile phone number, you can quickly, safely and easily send and receive money with more people you know and trust, regardless of where they bank.

Unlike a Bill Pay system, Zelle® is not recurrent, so you will need to schedule each contribution. Send your funds to giving@emmanueldearborn.org or scan our QR code (the square barcode-looking image) with your phone’s camera to get started.

Qualified Charitable Donations

For people who are over 70 1/2, you can use your pre-tax IRA account to make a donation. You pay no tax on this distribution and it counts against any required minimum distributions (RMD) so this is an excellent way to support Emmanuel and meet your RMD requirements.

To get started, contact the financial institution handling your IRA and ask for check writing privileges. Use these checks to make your contribution.

You will receive a 1099-R listing all distributions, but you can exclude the amount listed on your Emmanuel Statement from your taxable income. Your tax advisor can answer any questions.

Thrivent Choice Dollars

Thrivent Choice Dollars lets eligible clients with membership choose where Thrivent distributes a portion of its funding each year.

Direct Choice Dollars Online

Visit https://www.thrivent.com/thriventchoice.
Select Direct Choice Dollars.
Log in by entering your User ID and password.
(If you haven’t yet registered on thrivent.com, click
Register for account access.)
Choose the organization to which you want to direct
Choice Dollars:
1. To direct to a previous organization:
  • Click Direct Now next to the organization’s
  name, or
  • Click on the View activity history link, scroll down
  and click on the name of the desired organization.
2. To direct to a new organization, enter keyword(s) like
  organization name, ZIP code, cause, etc. Click Search.
Choose Direct All or enter a specific number
and click Direct Now. Follow the prompts on the
confirmation page to direct Choice Dollars.
